Details - Upgrading the CCTV system to ensure the ongoing security and protection of passengers and staff

Introduction

Rotherham Interchange is a bus station serving the town of Rotherham, South Yorkshire. Situated in the town centre, the interchange houses 19 bus stands which are served by First South Yorkshire, Stagecoach Yorkshire, Stagecoach East Midlands, TM Travel, Powells, and Brecks International.

Around 17 million people travel through the Interchange each year using 1,299 buses a day.

Following a major fire, the transport hub's security technology needed bringing up-to-date.

The challenge

Carrying out upgrade works in such a busy location is a complex process, but one that we are well used to dealing with. As one of the major gateways into the town, the security improvements would be key to protecting the many visitors and residents arriving in the town centre via public transport.

How we did it

We worked closely with South Yorkshire Passenger Transport Executive and other key contractors and partners contributing to the overall Interchange refurbishment.

We installed the latest CCTV technology at multiple locations around Rotherham Interchange, connecting it up to the main control centre and bringing the system up-to-date.

What we delivered

An up-to-date, future-proofed, high tech CCTV system that will ensure the security of both staff and passengers whilst at the terminal.
