TIS achieves BAFE SP207 certification for evacuation alert systems

TIS has achieved NSI Gold approval and BAFE SP207 registration for the ‘Design, Installation, Commissioning, and Maintenance of Evacuation Alert Systems’.

This certification places TIS among an elite group of companies nationwide and one of only four in the East Midlands to hold this accreditation. Evacuation Alert Systems are a vital life safety measure, designed to assist Fire & Rescue Services in prioritising and managing the safe evacuation of high-rise residential buildings. In the event of an emergency, they enable targeted alerts to be issued to specific floors or areas, helping to ensure that those most at risk can be evacuated efficiently and safely.

These systems do not replace fire detection and alarm systems but instead provide an extra layer of protection – ensuring that when evacuation is necessary, it is well-coordinated and effectively communicated.

Fire safety legislation has evolved in recent years, with Approved Document B of the Building Regulations being updated in 2022 to mandate the installation of evacuation alert systems in all new high-rise residential buildings over 18 metres in height. Additionally, existing buildings of this height undergoing significant refurbishments must also comply with this requirement.
